With eye health becoming a primary concern of aging, a great deal of recent research has
focused on maintaining healthy eyes. It is well established that the Vitamin A family of nutrients
(retinoids and carotenoids) is critical to ocular nutrition. One specific carotenoid, Lutein (and
its precursor, Zeaxanthin), has been identified as playing a central role in macular health.
Lutein is an antioxidant that appears to quench or reduce harmful free radicals. Lutein also
filters the high-energy, blue wavelengths of light from the visible-light spectrum by as much
as 90%. It is important to carefully balance lutein with beta-carotene in a clinical eye formula,
avoiding too much carotene, as they compete for absorption.

Ocu Support™ is nutritionally balanced, having been formulated to provide comprehensive
protection for the eyes. Studies suggest that 6-10 mg of Lutein per day is necessary to
realize health benefits. One serving of Ocu Support™ supplies the full 10 mg of Lutein. Ocu
Support™ has also included useful antioxidants like Green Tea Extract, Alpha-Lipoic Acid,

Cautions and Interactions
Some of the ingredients in this product may interact with prescription medications.

The action of oral anticoagulant medications may be affected by Vitamin E and excessive
bleeding has been associated with this combination and coagulation abnormalities. Amiloride
could reduce zinc excretion from the body, leading to toxic zinc accumulation. Zinc may
interfere with the absorption of penicillamine, fluoroquinolone and tetracycline so it may be
advisable to take zinc at least 2 hours apart. Seek medical supervision before taking chromium
if you are taking oral diabetes medications or insulin.
