MSM (methylsulfonylmethane) is an organic form of the mineral sulfur and is a by-product of
the oxidation of dimethylsufoxide (DMSO).

Biologically usable sulfur, which is provided by MSM, helps to support healthy skin, joints, bone,
hair and nails. MSM works by providing essential sulfur for certain biochemical reactions.
Sulfur supplementation has become very popular, mainly because sulfur is such an important
element used in many bodily reactions. Recently it has largely been used for connective
tissue and joint health. It should be noted that MSM does not have the strong sulfur smell
of DMSO.

Cautions and Interactions
MSM is generally held to be nontoxic. Animal studies have yield no observed adverse
effect at ingestion of 1.5 grams per kilogram body weight for 90 days. MSM is not related
to sulfa drugs.
